Exhibition and Conference on the Albanian Natural Resources

Tirana, May 27th, 2008 - The Foreign Investors Association of Albania in cooperation with ELIDA Co’94 have officially inaugurated the National Conference on Natural Resources of Albania called: “Albania, a Destination for Investments”, the first of the kind in the country.

The Plenary session was opened by the President of FIAA, Mr. Thomas Papaspyrou followed by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy, Mr. Genc Ruli, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection, Mr. Jemin Gjana, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Ylli Pango, the Vice Minister of Public Works, Transport and Telecommunications, Mr. Stavri Ristani and the Chairman of  the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Gjoke Uldedaj, who were the main supporters for this activity

FIAA Board of Directors met with the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Sali Berisha

On April 22nd 2008, several distinguished members of the FIAA Board met with the Prime Minister of Albania. The main purpose of the visit was the development of future collaboration with the Government of Albania.

The Board expressed the deepest thanks to the Prime Minister for his support given to FIAA during the last years. As well, they assured Mr. Berisha that FIAA will continue to be the main promoter of the Albanian investment opportunities by acting as ambassadors of their respective countries

Vodafone Albania Foundation Presentation in the FIAA Network Meeting of April.


On April 21st 2008, in Sheraton Tirana Hotel & Towers, FIAA held the Network Meeting of April, where a very important member Vodafone Albania Foundation made a presentation.
During this interesting event were present most of the members of FIAA and also other important representatives from the business world, the diplomatic bodies, international organizations as well as government bodies and institutions.
The Vodafone Albania Foundation presented its mission that is “Vodafone Making a Difference”. The main aim of the Vodafone Albania Foundation that is the first ever business charity organization formed in Albania, is to make a positive contribution to local communities by making direct grants to locally registered charities and global NGOs to fund projects that will make a social impact.  Areas of focus will include: education, health, social welfare and environment. These projects will ultimately benefit people in need, especially children with special needs, as well as other vulnerable groups.
Key priorities for the Vodafone Albania Foundation are to focus on social issues that will help people to lead fuller lives by sharing the benefits of mobile communications technology as widely as possible; protecting the natural environment; and supporting the local communities in which Vodafone’s customers, employees, investors and suppliers live.

FIAA s General Assembly Meeting Results 

 On February 26th 2008 from 19:30 to 20:00 at Sheraton Tirana Hotel was held the General Assembly Meeting of FIAA to elect two members for the Board of Directors.

The ballot was regular and with a participation of 47 members. After the voting process for 8 candidates, the Winners were:

1. Mr. Bob PETRYK, General Manager of Bankers Petroleum Albania

2. Mr. Oliver WHITTLE, CEO of Raiffeissen Bank in Albania.

Each of the candidates in a short speech introduced himself and the motivations for running to the board of directors of FIAA.

Both of them expressed their commitment for the fulfillment of the FIAA’s mission and the improvement of the business climate in general.

In the next FIAA Meeting they will present an ambitious work plan for 2008 with the objective to promote the Association in the country and abroad.

Comport Presentation in the first FIAA Network Meeting for 2008.

On January 29th 2008 the Foreign Investors Association of Albania held the first Network Meeting for 2008. During this interesting event were present most of the members of FIAA and also other important representatives from the business world, the diplomatic bodies, international organizations as well as government bodies and institutions.
During the event a very outstanding Albanian company made an interesting presentation. Comport l.t.d, for 20 minutes unfolded the company’s profile, its values, strengths, services and products.

The Economist Group organized the Second Business Roundtable with the Government of Albania and FIAA was the main Supporter

 

The Second Business roundtable with the Government of Albania organized by the Economist Group on October 31st, 2007 was a very big important day for all the participants. This high-level Business Roundtable was a unique opportunity for senior businesspeople to engage in substantive discussion with all the relevant Albanian decision-makers. In one day of off-the-record discussion, this conference brought under the same roof the Vice Prime Minister, key Economic Ministers and Senior Corporate speakers of Albania. The interactive meeting, moderated by experts from the Economist Group, enabled Foreign Investors and local business leaders to exchange ideas on the future of Albania's economy and business environment...

New President of FIAA

The new FIAA Board of Directors hold their first meeting where, as per the By-laws of FIAA they had to elect the New President of FIAA after the prior President Mr. Pierre Semaan who left Albania recently due to other commitments he has out of the country. General Assembly Meeting

The Foreign Investors Association of Albania organized the General Assembly Meeting electing a new Board of Directors. It was proposed by the FIAA Management that would be very effective to extend the Board of Directors from three to seven people. This fact would help FIAA to better serve to its mission as well as to give the opportunity to more members to represent the Association at the third parties. Apart other issues of the agenda, in the meeting was presented the FIAA Activities Report during the last two years.The Meeting came out with a high diversity of the nations that the New Board Members were presenting

 


Country Profile

Albania is a small country situated in South Eastern Europe in the West of Balkan Peninsula. It encompasses an area of 28,748 square kilometers, between 390 38’ and 420 39’ of North Latitude and 190 16’ to 210 40’ latitude, with a maximum length from north to south of about 340 kilometers and a maximum width of about 154 km.
