FIAA celebrated its 7th Anniversary

18 June 2007 - Foreign Investors Association of Albania (FIAA) celebrates its 7th Anniversary
The Foreign Investors Association of Albania, an association representing the foreign business community operating in the country, celebrated on Monday, 18 June 2007, its 7th anniversary. The event was hosted by the Board of Directors of FIAA and besides its members, present at the event were the Prime Minister Mr. Sali Berisha, Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy Mr. Genc Ruli, the Governor of the Bank of Albania Mr. Adrian Fullani, as well as several representatives of the highest international bodies present in Albania.
The President of FIAA, Mr. Thomas Papaspyrou, stated:”Over the years we have seen FIAA membership growing - as of today it counts 60 members. It includes foreign, as well as several reputable Albanian Companies with International ties. All together, we have come a long way, accomplishing our main mission of having a common voice representing and protecting the interests of the foreign investors in Albania”.
The focus of the association during the coming months will be on:
- Attracting new members to join FIAA aiming to have 100 members by the end of the year;
- Making FIAA a business unit that works and lobbies for the interests of its members;
- Assist in developing an attractive business environment, which promotes business investment opportunities in Albania.
During the reception, the President of FIAA introduced to the guests a business- roundtable with the Government of Albania, which will be organized in October 31st in Tirana by “The Economist Conferences”. This is the second time “The Economist Conferences” will hold a round table with the government of Albania; meantime it has organized many in other developing countries. The objective of the event is to identify new business opportunities in Albania, as well as to discuss business issues with the policymakers.

Country Profile
Albania is a small country situated in South Eastern Europe in the West of Balkan Peninsula. It encompasses an area of 28,748 square kilometers, between 390 38’ and 420 39’ of North Latitude and 190 16’ to 210 40’ latitude, with a maximum length from north to south of about 340 kilometers and a maximum width of about 154 km.
